Our Story

The story of We Speak Baby Collective began with a friendship. Founders Rachel O’Brien, IBCLC, and Shelly Taft, IBCLC, have been “breasties” since 2017. As lactation consultants, they spent years supporting families and dreaming of creating something bigger — a parenting studio where their clients and the wider community could come together to build friendships, find support, and share the journey of parenthood.

In 2022, Rachel and Shelly began sharing an office in Wayland, MA, where they continued to help families one-on-one. But the dream didn’t stop there. By 2024, they had outgrown their cozy office and moved just down the hall into a larger, light-filled space. This was the moment We Speak Baby Collective was born.

Today, Rachel and Shelly each maintain their own offices within We Speak Baby Collective, continuing to offer one-on-one consultations while the studio space is alive with the energy of classes, workshops, support groups, and community gatherings.

Our Mission

We’re on a mission to create a safe and inclusive space where every parent feels empowered, supported, and seen. Whether it’s navigating the joys and challenges of newborn care, learning babywearing techniques, or simply finding other parents who "get it," we’re here to make the journey a little easier — and a lot more fun.

What We Offer

Located at 260 Boston Post Road in Wayland, MA, We Speak Baby Collective is easily accessible to families in Sudbury, Weston, Framingham, Natick, Waltham, Newton, Concord, and the greater Boston Metro West area. We’re just a 35-minute drive from Worcester and about 30 minutes from Boston, making us a convenient destination for families across the region. Our parenting studio offers:

• Expert-led classes on everything from childbirth prep to starting solids.

• Welcoming support groups for connecting with other parents.

• Hands-on workshops for learning practical parenting skills.
